I am SUPER excited to start off Wedding Vendor Wednesdays with a interview with Damaris Mia from Le Magnifique. She is an incredible woman I met through a woman’s photography group (Pursuit 31) and have had such a great opportunity to get to know her. Included are some photos that she has taken. Gorgeous, right? So today is the beginning of Wedding Vendor Wednesdays. Enjoy!

Tell me a little about yourself?
My name is Damaris Mia and I am the founder & editor of Le Magnifique Blog, a wedding inspiration blog. I’m also a hobbyist photographer with a passion for weddings, people, and nature. I’m located in beautiful southern California, where I have lived my entire life. I am married to an amazing man and have a little furkid name Nala. I have a sweet tooth and enjoy eating spicy food.

How did you come up with the name Le Magnifique?
I’m horrible when it comes to coming up with names for things. My original name was not so original and my sister disliked it. She suggested I try out the original name in French and it took off from there! I started playing around with words and it didn’t take long for me to find the word I thought would best fit my wedding blog. The word that really stuck with me was magnificent, or magnifique in French. I loved what magnificent meant and felt that it best described the type of weddings and shoots I wanted to feature on my blog. So that’s how the name Le Magnifique came to be 🙂

What made you start an inspiration blog?
I gather inspiration from just about any source you can imagine – I aspire to be inspired. On top of that, I love promoting other people and their work. So you tie those two together and the idea of an inspiration blog came to be. I felt that too much of the same type of weddings and style of photography were being featured on wedding blogs across the board – which by the way, isn’t bad. I just feel that there is SO much more out there that isn’t being shown and I wanted to be the person to do that.

You are also a photographer, which one of your projects will you be focusing most of your time on?
Of the two projects, it would be Le Magnifique. Photography is now an outlet for me to be creative and get away from the computer 🙂
Where do you gather your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from just about everywhere. Pinterest, photographer blogs, Stumbleupon, the TV, movies, people, everywhere.
What has defined the style of your blog?
My style in my everyday life has defined the style of my blog. I’m a very eclectic person with a wide variety of styles I love. I love pretty much anything out there. It’s how my closet is, it’s how my home is, it’s how I am. This has all trickled down to how I run Le Magnifique. People might not agree with it, but it’s who I am 🙂

What style does Le Magnifique look for?
Le Magnifique has an eclectic but elegant style. We’re looking for all types of weddings and shoots. We don’t focus on one type of style because our readers are the type of people who can pull inspiration from just about anything. Above all that, the most important thing we look for is quality work. A submission can have a ton of details but if the quality of work is not there or the photos are not consistent in their editing, we’re most likely going to pass it up.
Having a love for photography, who are those photographers who you look up to and admire the most?
I could list a few of the top photographers whose work I love, but I really want just want to list a few of my photographer friends who I know will make it big in the industry. These are photographers whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, hanging out with, or chatted with. I truly adore these girls and am so blessed to have them in my life: Diana Lupu (www.DLuphotography.com), Toni Lynn (http://tonilynnphotography.com/), Diana Marie (http://dianamarieblog.com/), and Kristen Booth (http://www.kristenboothblog.net/).

Your photography is incredible, will you still be doing it on the side of Le Magnifique?
– Thank you 🙂 I will definitely be doing it on the side as I still enjoy shooting very much. I don’t think I’ll ever stop shooting because photography takes my creativity to a whole other level and there is something relaxing about taking your camera out and shooting.

What are some fun facts about you? 🙂
I have a serious addiction with hot cheetos. I will not read books off anything electronic; it’s all about the real thing. Speaking of books, I’m always buying a new book. When the Border’s bookstore by my house went out of business, guess where I was? Yup, you got it. I walked out with about 20+ books. I’m super competitive. I’m a bit of a tomboy but I love my stilettos! I love playing all kinds of sports, soccer and tennis being my favorite. I love adventure and traveling.
