This Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding was fun and vibrant with a dash of boho formal glam. When I first met with Laura and Matt, they let me in on the vision of their wedding day. They pictured everyone they love spending the night dancing at a stunning mountainside venue. Together, they envisioned guests in formal suits surrounded by their vibrant color palette with moments of fun and whimsy taking over. Laura and Matt’s wedding day was everything they imagined, and so much more.
Laura and Matt’s dream come true Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding all began when the couple met back in 2019, completely by chance. Matt’s friend was headed out for the night and sent an impromptu invite his way to join up for drinks in downtown Minneapolis. That one fateful invite turned into Laura and Matt spending the next 48 hours by each other’s side, including a visit to the tattoo parlor.
Their connection was instant and over the next year they remained steadfast through a long-distance relationship. Of course, that year also brought something unexpected their way, lockdowns and quarantines all thanks to COVID. But for Laura and Matt, who were both working from home, it was a fortuitous time in their lives. One where they could easily make the transition from long distance to living together and experiencing life side by side.
As their bond deepened, Matt asked Laura’s parents for her hand in marriage, purchasing a beautiful ring in anticipation of the exact moment he would propose. During a trip to the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, Matt assured Laura that he would, in fact, not be proposing during the festival. However, during the same trip, they just so happened to stop in Ouray. To add the element of surprise to the proposal, Matt captured a photo of Laura from behind before asking for her hand in marriage. She was utterly shocked and over the moon delighted, instantly saying yes. From there they began planning their Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding.
Spruce Mountain Ranch Wedding
Laura and Matt’s approach to planning their Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding centered around carefully curating meaningful details. They wanted their wedding to be a true reflection of ‘them’ with elements that told the story of Laura and Matt. To pay homage to their trip to the tattoo parlor during their first date (a moment that started it all) they treated their wedding guests to custom temporary “Laura & Matt” tattoos.
Key moments were also delivered through loving family members. Including one present from the past that tied everything together. Laura’s chic, retro wedding gown with lofty boho layers, was her grandmother’s wedding dress. Laura paired it with wildly colorful cowboy boots and a bridal hairstyle full of fresh florals to make it uniquely her own. During their Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding reception, Laura’s dad orchestrated a beautifully meaningful rose dance. Every man in Laura’s life who had an impact on her upbringing surrounded her on the dance floor. They each held out a single long-stem red rose to present to Laura. The expression on her face during this one-of-a-kind moment was the embodiment of pure joy.
For a fun interactive moment with her guests, Laura took to the dance floor for a flash mob! Prior to that, Matt and his mom tore up the dance floor as guests watched on for their fabulous take on a mother/son dance. Friends and family surrounded Laura and Matt with so much love on their wedding day. Openly embracing the moments that brought them on this incredible journey together, while getting an inside view of what makes Laura and Matt’s love so remarkable.
Everyone spent the night dancing until their feet hurt and the atmosphere was overflowing with love, laughter, and smiles all around.
