Flying Diamond Ranch Wedding Among the Aspen Trees
Among the Aspen Groves, in the quiet meadows near the Rocky Mountains by Steamboat Springs, lies Flying Diamond Ranch, a Colorado ranch wedding venue in a pastoral setting. The views from within this space stretch on into the distance, surrounded by woodlands, in a location that is rustic yet refined. The wedding venue comes together with a backdrop of organic elements driven by elevated decor, allowing celebrations to unfold through genuine moments.
Jamie and Christian’s Flying Diamond Ranch wedding was imbued with the tranquility of the setting, allowing the couple to center intimate moments on their love for one another and an amazing tented wedding reception where generations gathered.
Sometimes, however, not every wedding day goes exactly according to plan. If you were to ask Jamie and Christian where they envisioned their exchange of wedding vows taking place, they would not hesitate to tell you they dreamed of getting married among the Aspen Grove. A place that feels like a version of home to them, amidst the quaking trees that shimmer in the wind. Known for their intricate roots, Aspen Groves are considered a single living organism; there is something poetic to be said about choosing to a wedding ceremony in the midst of this delicate, thriving ecosystem.
As fate would have it, the weather was not on our side the day Jamie and Christian’s Flying Diamond Ranch wedding arrived. What was set to be an al fresco wedding ceremony experience quickly shifted into plan B.
The wind picked up as guests began to arrive, and their team of trusted wedding professionals quickly adjusted course, carrying their Chuppah to a secondary tented wedding ceremony site. Chairs were made ready for guests, and an entire ceremony space, protected safely from the elements, was constructed in a matter of minutes. All in all, accommodating their guests and providing Jamie and Christian with an alternate space where they could be joined together under the Chuppah before smashing the glass.
Celebrating the Moments that Matter Most
Somehow, the rain plan for Jamie and Christian’s wedding brought to light the moments that matter most. It wasn’t about perfection and curation; instead, their day became about intentional connections. The way Jamie and Christian chose to be present with one another and hold each other steady through each twist and turn. The way they allowed their guests to gather around them and celebrate their new path in life, and the profound meaning behind the joy of presence through love and connection, without perfection.
Portraits were captured in the rain, guests applauded energetically when the glass was smashed, the Hora during their reception brought together everyone on the dance floor, and the memories created were undeniable.
The Day After
Intent on allowing Jamie and Christian to exchange wedding vows in the Aspen Grove, the day after their wedding, their planner and I set out to make their dream a reality. In the Grove at Flying Diamond Ranch Weddings & Events, a ceremony space was set for Jamie and Christian to renew their vows. The sun filled the grove with a welcoming golden glow, and the air was fragrant with the light scent of aromatics. Under the wedding chuppah from the day prior, in the quiet of the mid-morning, Jamie and Christian renewed their promises to one another, exactly as they had always intended.
