Vail Snowboarding Adventure Engagement Session

This was one of my favorite sessions of 2019, so it’s about time that I put it up here. This session was something new for me, and it was something that pushed me to think creatively all day. I grew up skiing, starting at 18 months old, so I knew that we would have a blast. Dan & Kim were such troopers, and we had the best time photographing their vail snowboarding adventure engagement session.

Let me just tell you, it was days like this that re-affirmed our decision to no longer do traditional engagement sessions. These sessions make me so dang happy. The create a story, and we all know that I thrive on stories and authenticity.

Dan & Kim spend most of their winters enjoying the snow in the Colorado mountains. So we thought it was only natural that we did their session at Vail Resort. We started our day by enjoying some german apps at Alpenrose in Vail Village, enjoyed a Feuerzangenbowle (flaming german cocktail) and sat on the patio stopping every dog that came by, you all know I have to pet all the dogs… Then we put on our gear and headed up the mountain to snowboard. The weather quickly turned from sunny and a balmy 50 degrees to some light snow flurries, strong wind, and 30 by the time we got to the top. Typical Colorado. Dan & Kim managed to do a few of their favorite runs before the snow started to really come down.

Random note, you all know we lost our sweet corgi Jade 2 years ago in October. When we were all one and heading to our cars to say our goodbyes I spotted a corgi that looked IDENTICAL to Jade, which is rare since Jade was so unique in her coloring. I asked this sweet woman to take her pup out of the car so I could say hello. Such a beautiful way to end this session. (Yes, I know. Crazy dog lady here.)
