This Chalet View Lodge wedding in California was a lively ‘Fiesta in the Forest’. Caitlin and Matt’s thoughtfully planned wedding day celebration was filled with vibrant, bold colors, embodying the energy of a mariachi ensemble. To crank up the volume of guest experience, the members of their wedding party passed out tequila shots, complete with lime wedges, at the start of their ceremony to seated guests. Side by side with their fun approach, their entire day was enveloped in the warmth and romantic ambiance of their wedding venue’s mountain setting. All in all, creating an immersive gathering rooted in love.

Flying out to California for Caitlin and Matt’s Chalet View Lodge wedding was, in many ways, a return, reuniting with friends and family members who have welcomed me into their milestones throughout the years past. Nearly ten years ago, I first met Caitlin and her sister Kristen at a wedding fair. At the time, Kristen was planning her wedding, but Caitlin and their Dad, along with other family members, were helping throughout the process. It was Dad who stopped by to chat about wedding photography and immediately signaled to Kristen and Caitlin to come over and say hello.

Needless to say, getting to know this beautiful family through Kristen’s wedding was an inviting experience. During that time, Caitlin and I immediatley bonded over our shared love of Taylor Swift. There was something truly special at the center of our connection. Because from then on, each time I reconnected with Caitlin and her family, it has felt like coming home.

Nearly eight years after our initial meeting, it was Caitlin who was planning a wedding. Though she had connections from her own career in the wedding industry, I was incredibly honored that she reached out to me to capture her Chalet View Lodge wedding. Reuniting with her family, this time with Matt and their sweet pup Birdie, was an unforgettable day of celebration.
