Fly Fishing Adventure Engagement Session

They decided to go fly fishing together for their Adventure Engagement Session before their wedding. We headed to Deckers, which is along the South Platte River, and has great fly fishing. The river is very popular for fly fishing so we were lucky to get some time where Lauren and Davey were alone on the river. I’m happy anytime I can get out for a photo session in any part of the Colorado mountains, especially if it involves an adventure with one of my amazing couples.

Davey is an avid fly fisherman. He enjoys being out on the water on his days off and really loves fishing. Lauren, however, is not quite as skilled as Davey. She has gone fishing but wasn’t quite as experienced as he was. They decided to hire a guide to help them during their adventure session. I thought hiring a guide was a great decision! He helped Lauren and Davey figure out how to work together as a team and helped them catch some fish!

The first fish Lauren and Davey caught together was a carp. If you’ve never been fishing in Colorado before, the carp is not the most attractive fish. It’s actually pretty repulsive as far as fish go. It was hilarious to see Lauren and Davey’s faces as they realized how gross the carp was. We spent a few hours out on the water. Eventually, Lauren and Davey were rewarded and caught a rainbow trout, which was beautiful. Stay tuned for their wedding next week on the blog.
